RFS Open Day is coming

As you know, the RFS open Day is an important way of the Scotland Island Brigade engaging with local residents and ensuring everyone is well prepared for the coming fire season.

This year Open Day is the Sunday 13th September.

We have planned a range of activities starting with a fire shed dinner on Saturday 12th September.  Activities on Sunday the 13th September will include:

·         Pump and hose activities
·         Live fire / fire extinguisher demonstrations
·         Bush fire plan preparation and review
·         Advice about improving bushfire safety for island houses
·         Smoke alarm demonstrations
·         Review and update of the emergency access and evacuation map
·         BBQ morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea

It would be great to have as many members as possible attend the fire shed dinner and the Open Day.  If you can attend the Open Day and can spare a couple of hours to help out with an activity please review the activity schedule below and let me know what you would like to do.

Also, if anyone can help out prior to the Open Day in any of the following ways please let me know:

·         Preparation of a fire tray suitable for live fire demonstrations (could be the bottom of an old drum or something similar)
·         Preparation of a smoke alarm demonstration
·         Preparation of some posters showing pictures of some island houses pointing out good and bad things about them in relation to bushfires

You can contact me by email at or by phone on 0401 716 194.
