Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify various organs located in the chest, abdominal, and pelvic cavity
  • Identify history/mechanism of injury (MOI) that may result in injuries to the above cavities
  • Recognise signs and symptoms associated with injuries to the above cavities
  • Explain potential/likely blood loss (internal haemorrhage) resulting from injuries in the above cavities
  • Manage patient with injuries to any of the above cavities
  • Explain stages and/or progression of crush injuries and associated dangers to the patient
  • Recognise the importance of early and accurate MIST reports in the management of injuries to any of the above cavities
