1.0       Purpose of Day:

1.01     The purpose of the day is;

  • To develop crew skills associated with water borne Brigade responses.
  • To further inter-Brigade relationships between water borne Brigades.
  • To further inter-Brigade relationships with other Rescue and Emergency Services / Agencies.
  • To provide Crew Leaders with an opportunity to enhance their skills in leadership by managing several short, sharp, basic exercises all within a prescribed time frame.

2.0       Proposed Exercise Outcomes:

                                                                                                                            

2.01     At the completion of the exercise Fire Fighters will have a better understanding of;

  • Various fire fighting techniques associated with fighting fires on and off shore,
  • Safety in relation to fighting fires on shore from fire boats,
  • Safety in relation to fighting fires on the water from fire boats,
  • Safely securing fire boats in differing tidal, swell and wind conditions.

2.02     At the completion of the exercise Crew Leaders will have a better understanding of;

  • Various fire fighting techniques associated with fighting fires on and off shore,
  • Safety in relation to fighting fires on shore from fire boats,
  • Safety in relation to fighting fires on the water from fire boats,
  • Safely securing fire boats in differing tidal, swell and wind conditions,
  • Tasking of Crews for various fire or rescue scenarios,
  • Working within determined time frames
  • Working within a small Incident Control System.

3.0       Equipment and Resources:

3.01       Competing Brigade and Agency boats;

·         Gosford:    Mooney Mooney x 1, Brisbane Water x 1

·         Hornsby:   Brooklyn x 1, Berowra Waters x 2, Dangar Island x 1 & Milson’s Passage x 1.

·         Warringah: Scotland Island x 1 and West Pittwater x 1

·         Cumberland Zone - Regentville x 1

·         Baulkham Hills – Wisemans Ferry x 1

·         NSW Maritime – 1 boat composite crew with Berowra Waters

·         NSW Water Police –  1 boat composite crew with Berowra Waters

·         Hornsby LAC Police – 1 boat composite crew required                                                  Total  14

     

All vessels must be equipped with at least one standard portable pump (truck type), PMR / GRN

Simplex 10 enabled radios and at least 3 x fire-ground radios. Standard boat safety equipment must also be provided. A  Marine VHF may also be advantageous. (Ch to be confirmed)
